Evolving investment structures in Europe: finding value in European funds and REITs

Conference Palais des Festivals, Hoban room, Level 3 Investor's programme
    MODERATOR:

    • The session will open with new evidence from IPD comparing the performance of REITs, unlisted funds and direct real estate investments across Europe

    • The fall-out from the financial crisis has raised serious questions about the limited partnership fund model;  but does this mean that REITs will now take their place as the European investment vehicle of choice?  How are these different structures placed to operate in a debt-constrained environment?

    • Is a level playing field emerging for vehicles across Europe, or do local laws and regulations mean that different countries are still likely to foster different structures?

    • How is AIFMD set to change the way that funds are managed and the way that investors behave?  Will it make a fundamental difference to the treatment of risk, or has it come after the black swans have already flown?
